The year is 1985. Helen Campbell is on a mission: to get her sixteen year old daughter Annie into the prestigious Bentworth Academy.  To secure Annie a spot, Helen misrepresents her credentials and is hired as the new headmistress.

Overrun by rock rebels and pampered teenaged pedigrees, Helen quickly learns that the once venerable Bentworth is in a state of complete chaos.  Unless Helen is able to secure a hefty endowment from her old flame, the chronically well-groomed Senator Kurt Chase, Bentworth Academy will have to close its gates forever.

Helen initiates a bold plan to reform the students and to improve the school, her greatest obstacle, however, turns out to be Annie, whose hidden agenda to attend an arts high school in New York challenges Helen's entire reason for returning to Bentworth Academy in the first place.
